The Rockshop Experience

Our Rockshop experiences are the perfect introductory programmes to get you playing with other musicians. Our courses will focus on developing your playing skills as both an individual and as a player in a group. You will have opportunities to perform alongside like-minded students and share your learning experience in a supportive group atmosphere.

In your one-on-one lessons you will learn a variety of the fundamental skills and techniques that will address key areas of your guitar playing and provide you with a solid base upon which to build in the future. The group performance workshops will help to build your confidence and are designed to guide you through the process of learning a song to delivering a performance.

Acoustic Guitar Rockshop

Are you an acoustic player who is looking to learn the techniques and approaches of some of the acoustic guitars great players. If so, our Acoustic Guitar Rockshop will explore the styles and concepts of the great acoustic guitar strummers and fingerstylists, focussing on finger-picking, rhythm strumming and learning classic tunes from the acoustic guitar songbook.

In your first Rockshop session we will discuss what songs you would like to learn. Our instructors will be happy to work on the songs that you want to learn so please feel free to make a recommendation or choose from our recommended song list:

Our Acoustic Guitar Rockshop experience is tailored to beginners and intermediate learners. Expect to cover the following subjects during your two-day course. Please contact us to let us know your ability level so we can place you on the correct course level.

Blues Guitar Rockshop

Do you want to become a better blues guitarist and raise your playing to the next level? Our Blues Guitar Rockshop experience will do just that; giving you the blues licks and tricks to change the way you play forever! You will learn how to trade riffs, improvise effectively and communicate with players in a band.

During this Blues Rockshop experience you will have the opportunity to choose a song, or two, and learn to play it, jam with like-minded students and have the unique opportunity to perform alongside a live band of professional musicians.

Our Blues Guitar Rockshop experience is tailored to beginners and intermediate learners. Expect to cover the following subjects during your two-day course. Please contact us to let us know your ability level so we can place you on the correct course level.


If you are a beginner who is looking to step out of the bedroom or study we will be looking at:
  • The five positions of the minor pentatonic scale
  • Improve your picking skills using chromatic and pentatonic exercises
  • Play longer licks and join those scale shapes together
  • The five positions of the major pentatonic scale
  • The blues scale - adding the blue note
  • Learn to blend your blues scales with the minor and major pentatonic scale
  • Get more out of your scales and licks over a 12 bar blues
  • Master great phrasing with just two notes - BB King style!
  • Blues/rock rhythm riffs

If you are an intermediate who is looking to expand their playing skills we will be looking at:
  • The pentatonic scale inside and out
  • The modes blues players need to know: the Dorian and the Mixolydian
  • Altered pentatonic scales: break out of the blues box!
  • Playing over chord changes using arpeggios
  • Work modern rock techniques into your blues playing
  • Crack those chords: maj/min/dom extensions
  • Rhythm and grooves in 12/8 and 4/4 time
  • Learn to play and sound just like a pro!
Style focus, technique and theory will also be covered on this fantastic blues course. We will make you a better player!
